Is this actually legal? Can companies be forced to delete my data?

Yes. The Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act) is a central government law in India. Section 12 gives every data principal (that's you) the right to erasure. Companies that ignore requests face penalties of up to ₹250 Crore from India's Data Protection Board.

Do you store my data when I scan?

The free scan runs entirely in your browser — no data is sent to our servers. If you sign up for Pro, we store only what's necessary to send removal requests and track their status. We never sell your data.

Why does my data keep reappearing?

Data brokers continuously buy and sell data from each other. Even after a platform removes your record, it may reappear within 90–180 days as their data gets refreshed from other sources. That's why continuous monitoring and re-scanning every 90 days is essential.

How accurate is the scan?

The free scan simulates data exposure based on known patterns from each platform. For example, TrueCaller has data on virtually every Indian mobile number, so it's flagged as found for almost everyone. Pro subscribers get verified data checks through actual API lookups and form submissions.

What if a company doesn't respond to my removal request?

If a company doesn't respond within 90 days, we escalate with a formal complaint to India's Data Protection Board (DPB) on your behalf. This is a statutory body with the power to investigate and impose fines. Pro subscribers get auto-escalation included.

Does this work for Aadhaar or PAN-linked data?

Government databases like UIDAI (Aadhaar) and income tax records are exempt from the DPDP Act and cannot be removed. However, private platforms that misuse your Aadhaar number or PAN details (like displaying it publicly in company filings) can be targeted for removal.
